Rich Autumn Stew [recipe]
Is it just me or did it all of a sudden feel like fall outside today? There’s definitely a chill in the air. Perfect season for soups and stew with lots of fall flavors.
I try to avoid pork usually, but being the German I am, sometimes its consumption is absolutely necessary. I saw this recipe and decided to try it out tonight. I cut all the ingredients in half (the joys of cooking for one), except the apples and carrots.
As far as beer goes, I used New Belgium Ranger IPA. (By the way, if you’ve never been to New Belgium in Fort Collins, Colorado… go. now. They give you LOTS of free samples.)
I am posting this as it is simmering on the stove, so I can’t be certain that it’s going to be delicious, but how could it not be? And, I think my Oma is looking down at me, thinking, what a good German granddaughter I have - pork, apples, and beer!
